This year's Good Friday service at Central City, themed on The Voice of the Cross, featured seven homilies taking us through Jesus' final steps leading to His death. The cross asks us to hear the story of how God re-shapes its bloodied wood into a throne. How God swings the cross like a sword to split the veil separating us from His holiness. How Jesus uses the cross to harrow hell and conquer death. How the Holy Spirit animates the disciples’ despair into radical faith. This wondrous cross asks us to hear how Christ’s sacrifice, His death and resurrection, is God’s plan of redemption for you, to continue its good work through you.
Here you can listen to these homilies, each introduced by narration from scripture. We welcome you to sit amidst the unsettling contradictions of the cross (a torture device we are grateful for, an unjust death that brings us grace) and listen for the peace only our mysterious Father can offer us.
